Finishing up in India
Finishing up in India – Made Blue
In collaboration with SPREAWS, we have constructed borewells for 10 villages in Kadapa District. These villages are located in rural and mountainous areas whose residents face significant socio-economic challenges. The arrival of these wells not only provides the residents of the villages with clean water but also time and freedom.
Our achievements
Research was carried out in all 10 villages into the best possible location for the borewell, after which a renowned and experienced construction company could get to work. They sometimes drilled more than 150 meters deep to reach the water.
Thanks to this project, approximately 1,165 families, from young to old, will be provided with clean running water near home. Dangerous situations surrounding the collection and consumption of polluted water will become a thing of the past with the installation of borewells and hand pumps.

Hygiene training
At the opening of each well, attention was also paid on ensuring thorough personal hygiene. That may sound obvious, but it is something you quickly take for granted and forget, whether you have a tap in every room in the house or share a pump with the entire village.
That is why it’s so important that good hygiene is discussed clearly and openly when a new water point is installed in these types of remote areas. During this project, the entire village – man and woman, young and old – was explained the use of soap and the recognition and prevention of infectious diseases.
Record-setting heat
India has always been a hot country. But in recent years, the enormous country has been breaking all heat records at a worrying rate. This spring already brought a heat wave with temperatures over 50 degrees Celsius. According to scientists, these intense developments are caused by climate change. Temperatures are rising all over the world, and India is a prime example of how extreme this can get.
With these developments in mind, access to clean water becomes even more important for the residents of these types of warm areas. We are happy to have been able to provide a small drop in an unfortunately pretty big bucket with this project.

BOREWELLS IN INDIA
In cooperation with our local partner SPREAWS we will drill wells for 10 villages in the Kadapa District. These villages are located in rural and mountainous areas whose residents face significant socio-economic challenges.
Before installing the borehole, an underground water source is sought, often at a depth of about 150 meters. The quality of the water is extensively checked and ultimately all the hard work results in a platform with a hand pump, where residents can get clean water.
