GET A SUSTAINABLE QUALITY MARK IN HOSPITALITY WITH TAP WATER<\/h2>\n\n

If you want to achieve a sustainable quality mark as a hotel, restaurant or event center, it certainly helps to serve tap water instead of spring water or mineral water. You can read how that works here.<\/p>\n\n

What quality marks are there?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The best known is perhaps the Green Key<\/a>: the largest sustainability label for the tourism and recreational sector in The Netherlands. Nearly 700 Dutch companies have now obtained this quality mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also go for the EKO-certification Horeca<\/a>. This way you know that controlled organic products are used in the kitchen. With the compliments of the chef!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More internationally recognized and perhaps more geared towards hotels and the travel industry is the Green Globe<\/a> certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically for the Netherlands, there are also the Gaia Green Awards<\/a> that are presented every year during Gastvrij Rotterdam. This is a one-time award for sustainable catering entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

More change with serving tap water<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tapping water yourself is a lot more sustainable<\/a> compared to well water from the factory. First of all, it is more sustainable because much less transport and production is coming to fit. Only the machine and your glassware have to be produced once, but they both last a very long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why serving locally bottled water certainly counts for sustainable quality marks for the hospitality industry such as the Green Key, Green Globe and the EKO quality mark. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Is sustainable more expensive?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is sometimes difficult to see how much you, as a hospitality entrepreneur, actually pay for spring water or mineral water, because the price depends on a total contract with a supplier. We know that the price is between 80 cents and 1.20 euros depending on your brand and volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to tap water yourself, you need a machine and some glassware<\/a>. The machine<\/a> in particular is quite pricey. That is why most parties also offer this with a rental price per week or per month. All in all, however, it is almost always cheaper per bottle, unless you only serve a few bottles per evening.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Spring water or mineral water?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What’s the deal? In short: mineral water always comes from a recognized mineral source. Well water is little more than water from any source and that can be your water pipe too. Did you know that you shower in Utrecht with Bar Le Duc?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is bottled water inferior to the quality of spring water? Certainly not: with all the options for filtration, cooling, carbonization and mineralization, it is no longer necessary to buy spring water or mineral water<\/a> from the factory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a product that we can get for free and unlimited at home, but still want to buy for two thousand times the price in the supermarket: water in a bottle.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water for charity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tapping water yourself is therefore more sustainable, easier and cheaper than buying spring water or mineral water. But what if you would like to link it to a good cause?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most suppliers of water coolers do not have a solution for this. You are then dependent on providers of spring water such as Earthwater and Marie Stella Maris. They donate a small percentage of the profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only Made Blue<\/a> offers water coolers and glassware at cost price and includes a very transparent donation. Every bottle you place on the table provides 1,000 times its contents of clean drinking water.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Are guests willing to pay?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Do guests want to pay for water that I tap myself? And can I ask for money for tap water?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did research on this. And it turns out: 92% of the guests want to be able to order tap water. Only 16% are unwilling to pay for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your water is linked to a charity, people are on average willing to pay up to 75% more for it! In addition to a lower purchase price, there is therefore more than enough room for a healthy margin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
