We register the number of people given permanent access to clean water and hygiene, multiplied by a minimal daily use of 20 litres of water per person, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/sr-watersanitation.ohchr.org\/en\/rightstowater_5.html\"><strong>United Nations<\/strong><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">We promise access to clean water and hygiene for at least 10 years after completing a water project, of course working hard to make our impact last even longer. We\u2019re fair about potential <g id=\"gid_1\"><strong>risks<\/strong><\/g> involved.  Therefore we\u2019re aiming at reaching more people than being targetted, making sure reported impact is even bigger in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Each project is extensively checked before and during implementation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:80px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-lightgray-background-color has-background is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"duurzame-impact\">LASTING CHANGE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Unfortunately, many well-intentioned initiatives did not live up to expectations. In sub-Sahara Africa it is estimated that about 50% of water pumps once installed by charities are no longer functioning. That is a tragedy! Obviously, that\u2019s not how it should be at all and that is why we\u2019re very serious about making impact last. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Therefore every project we engage in is thoroughly screened and fitted with a business model and ownership structure guaranteeing operation and maintenance for at least 10 years to come. This often means that users pay a small contribution for the water fetched at the facility, funds that are being used as savings for future repairs or even expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">That results in lasting change and a more sustainable society. For example by running a pilot project with a <a href=\"https:\/\/madeblue.org\/en\/water-projects\/saids-water-vending-machine\/\">water vending machine<\/a> in Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re aiming at challenging local communities not only taking ownership, but also coming up with new ideas and approaches towards access to clean water and hygiene for all. That is a conscious policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end we work towards the clear objective to make as much impact as possible with every Euro being invested.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text aligncenter has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-center\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-right\" id=\"olievlekwerking\">knock-on effect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">Water projects are fitted with a business model and ownership structure. This often means that users pay a small contribution for the water fetched at the facility, funds that are being used as savings for future repairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">We often see that local communities are able to create additional water supplies on their own initiative based on modest income. Water points also attract other entrepreneurs.
